One Early
Morning
One early
morning
I mortgaged myself to
you.
Not through Building
Societies
or
banks
but, in unbreakable
bonds.
Just one small
victory
over
self-indulgence,
or, for
it.
You
scoffed
because my only
tangible assets
were good intentions
-
forgetting that good
intentions
are what tomorrow's
world
is always built
upon.
Your
cynicism
was the interest on my
repayments.
You became
mine
only when you
saw
that being
loved
was more
valuable
than not being
loved.
Whatever the bloody
assets.
